This time it was a P300 (I4 turbo) vs the
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
. This one is in the colour I want and I have to say, in person the blue is nice and subtle.
I also got to play with some of the gadgets this time around so here is what the off road camera looks like (obviously not off road because well it’s a test drive)
:
This camera feature is great if you don’t have a spotter, especially on a technical rock course.
Thoughts on the P300 vs P400
:
I was honestly worried that the I4 would be too slow, but it’s not in terms of your average SUV. It’s a 100 hp less than the I6 but it’s still putting out 300 hp so if you need to get going it can do that, it’s just not an SVR or Trackhawk but that’s not it’s purpose. It also has the bonus of the standard
18 inch wheels vs 20 on the I6 which is way better IMHO because you have real choices for AT/MT tires at 18 inches. If this one I test drove had the rear locking diff I’d probably be in a lot of trouble with my wife right now...

Stop making these posts or else one might wind up in my driveway.

love that color

The blue with smaller wheels look a lot better. 300 is great, even my fast SUV has less than 300 hp and weighs about the same.

SUV’s from the 90s weighing this much would have killed for 300hp.

The new Bond film has them, and he destroys a lot of them, that’s how I feel about them.

If you are worried about going slow in a Land Rover then what sort of Land Rover enthusiast actually are you?
It’s fair to say that Defender specifications and packaging as defined by Land Rover Australia is currently borked. I’ll probably have to wait for a year or two to see if they come to their senses.

You *worries about 300 hp feeling slow*
Me: *revs 126 hp engine*

More so everyone online was saying it was “sluggish” so I figured that maybe the turbo lag was terrible. It’s not though and the P300 can scoot.
Land Rover Australia has different specs than the US? I'm able to build pretty much what I want and don't have the usual bullshit being forced on me as part of the packages.

Hey, I used to deliver H2's for a dealership in college and at 300hp
they’re slow as fuck. Granted they’re 1000lbs heavier but that
it was what I was picturing as a possibility.

It appears I can’t have steel wheels...

110 base has them, not the case in Oz?

>I4 engine in Rover
AS GOD INTENDED
Okay, but what I’m really posting on is that I’m designing a vacuform table, and I’ve placed an order for SI and SII toylander build manuals. :D

Google says 6,614 pounds. That, well, um, more than I thought.
And I always complain about my mom’s Volvo XC90 and its 4,600 pounds and its 208 horsepower. It’s a lovely engine but sending that horsepower to the front wheels only creates a disheartening driving experience.

The ‘ build your vehicle’ tool automatically deletes them! Honestly, you probably could but it'd be a factory order so that's a six to nine month wait. Either way, the allocations for the diesel version have already been filled so only the P400 petrol version is available and it's definitely not fitted with steel wheels!

True, however Lucky8llc was able to fit 18" wheels to their P400 so that’s an option (but I’d rather just have factory 18" personally) if you’re really desperate. I feel like Oz is getting the short end of the stick because factory orders here in the US is only 3 months.

Truth be told...I'm not in the market. Even if we could afford a Defender, the nearest dealer is two hours away and we've long established that Land Rover Australia's approach to post sale customer service is tainted by indifference. There's a Toyota dealer in town and lightly used Prado's are a thing...plus there's the Isuzu MU-X.

Well, that escalated quickly...

Well...
It should be delivered in around 3(ish) months... What can I say, after driving it I was sold. Can’t wait to get it out in the bush and finally get back into exploring.

I look forward to those tales.
